Algood Circle Drive Freewill Baptist Church on Church Street, will hold a singing Saturday, May 25 at 7 p.m.

Hardys Chapel Freewill Baptist Church will hold revival from Monday, May 27 to Thursday, May 30 beginning at 7 p.m. nightly.
Evangelist will be Bro. Mike Gillock.
Pastor Kerry Higgins and congregation invite everyone to attend.

Highland Freewill Baptist Church will hold Bible School on Saturday, June 1 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with hayride and cook out to follow. Hollywood-based activities.

Riverton Baptist Church in the Beatytown Community will hold a revival Thursday, May 30 through Saturday, June 1 beginning at 7 p.m. nightly with Bro. Dwayne Whittaker doing the preaching.

Willow Grove Church of Christ invites everyone to attend the 2013 Vacation Bible School “Men of the Mountains” beginning Sunday, May 26 and continuing through Thursday, May 30 with classes for all ages, infant through adult, at 6:30 p.m. each evening. Refreshments will be served nightly. The balloon release will be Sunday, May 26 at 6 p.m.
The 2013 Gospel Meeting, Homecoming & Decoration will be held beginning Sunday, June 2 and continuing through Wednesday, June 5 with Bro. Chris Coil preaching.
Sunday morning Bible Study begins at 9:30 a.m., worship is at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Fellowship Meal at noon. Sunday evening services are at 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday night service is at 7 p.m.

Pete Stewart owned one of those great old country “general” stores. From the wood front porch with its Coke ice chest filled with ice covered almost frozen – Cokes, R.C. Colas, Orange Crush, Grapette, Pop Cola, Double Cola, and Root Beer – to the old glass topped hand operated gas pump.

The Colonial Bread screen door slammed with the ringing of a bell when you let it go as you enter the dimly lit interior filled with all a family would need.

When students protest abortion, can schools draw the line?

Students with deep religious convictions are fast turning public schools into the newest battleground over abortion, much to the dismay of beleaguered school officials.

The most recent controversy involves Annie Zinos, a sixth grade student in Minnesota, who was prohibited by her school from sharing pro-life literature with her classmates. Annie and her family filed suit against school officials for violating her First Amendment rights.

Meanwhile in New Mexico, a group of evangelical high school students lost a round last month in their fight to give classmates “fetus dolls” with a pro-life message attached. A three-judge panel of the U.S. 10th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the school district’s authority to stop the doll distribution.

Pro-life protesters in schools are a recent development, but students protesting for what they believe during the school day are a familiar part of our history.
