In its infancy, Overton County was once home to more than 100 schools one within walking distance of virtually every family. Much has changed over the years. But the value of a good, well-rounded education has not.
With eyes on the future, Overton County prides itself in offering a well-rounded education from pre-school to college. For the toddlers, several local pre-schools offer beginning learning in a loving environment. Five
elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school provide our students with a fundamental education.
For many though, the learning doesn't stop there. Overton County is also the proud home of Tennessee Technology Center at Livingston (accredited by the Commission of the Council on Occupational Education) and Volunteer State Community College at Livingston (accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award an associate's degree). Both offer state-of-the-art learning facilities and top-notch staffs.
Students can also obtain a bachelor's degree in nearby Cookeville at Tennessee Tech University. TTU is named one of the top public universities by U.S. News and World Report and one of the nation¹s
50 "Best Value" public colleges according to the Princeton Review.
